It is WORTH

The partners of the Project know that reaching unexpected results is possible by means of sharing capabilities. That is why four companies decided to collaborate within PRINTODECO Project. Only by means of this collaboration is possible to develop the digital printing applied to melamine boards.

According to this idea, we celebrate the launching of WORTH. This is a Project designed to boost European SMEs. It counts with the support of EASME and COSME Program. It focuses on collaborations between designers, manufacturers and technicians. The objective of that collaboration is to develop innovative products that can reach market successfully.

WORTH will open to public on September the 18th. You can get further information at the website of the project.

In addition to this, we will have the opportunity to get information about the Project on September the 15th. It will be during the Journey on Design and Architecture organised by Cluster da Madeira de Galicia. That date the technical director of PRINTODECO Project will also steer a round table about collaboration between design and industry.

The personal area

Last month it was published the PRINTODECO website for design customization. This website makes possible to select designs and customize then. After this you can store your designs and launch then to production.

Within the new customization website, there are three customization tools and just one personal area. This means that all the designs made by the same user are stored together. Once you are logged at the website, there is no limit on the number of designs you can store at your own personal area.

The personal area is a warehouse where customers can store their designs. Note that the designs needed to be store before they can enter into production by using the “Order” website.

Customization website

The website for design customization was published in august 2017. This milestone has been reached punctually according to PRINTODECO Project work plan. It refers to deliverable D-2.3. The website offers three different tools for design customization:

  • The first one is called «be briant!«and it allows changing hue, saturation and brightness to a large selection of high quality patterns.
  • The second one is «go further!«. It makes possible to blend any colour over many different patterns provided by the website.
  • The last one is «customize!«. It has no limits as it allows to upload images and merge then over exiting patterns.

All the tools provided by the new website run over a list of high quality and large dimensions catalogue of designs. Those images are ready to be customized by the customer who just have to select the colour and tone he likes.

The website also provides a personal area to the customer. By means of this area, the user can design and store his creations. In order to reach the personal area, the customer should log in previously. Therefore, he should just provide an email address and verify not being a robot.

Meeting in Agolada

This year the staff of PRINTODECO Project was present at “Campus dos Oficios”. This is a meeting hold every year in Agolada (Pontevedra), at the same time that a large exhibition of handmade products is hold. “Artesanía de Galicia” boosts both the exhibition and the meeting. This Agency helps Artisans and protects Craftmanship. It is part of the Regional Government

In this occasion, the meeting was focused on wood and its possibilities and it was held on July the 8th. The meeting included a large roundtable. Up to eleven relevant personalities on Craftsmanship, Design, University and Industry where present. The talk last more than three hours. It catched the attention of the public, who made lots of interesting and sometimes even polemic questions.

Seistag shared a book recently published. The text focuses on the natural and positive transition from Craftsmanship to Industry. The speaker of the Company pointed that artisan approach to product design is a valuable reference for industrials. Artisans understand the whole productive process and therefore are able to innovate easily. PRINTODECO Project is a good example of that potential, as it makes possible the designer to innovate in terms of surface design.

General Assembly in Santiago

The four Companies of PRINTODECO Project hold a meeting at TORCULO facilities in Santiago de Compostela on 3rd July. During the meeting, TORCULO presented the updated catalogue of decorative surfaces. This document shows “ready to print” images, but it also makes possible customization to the final customer by means of three new personalization tools.

The Consortium agree to publish those personalization tools in the Internet before the ending of summer 2017. This action follows the compromises of the initial work plan of PRINTODECO Project. SEISTAG presented the technical definition of that new and interactive website by showing a prototype of it. By publishing the tools in the internet, the final customers will be able to define unique products and order production directly to the producer.

During the meeting, LOSAN shared information on the technology readiness of digital printing applied to melamine boards. The Company showed possibilities and limitations of the best available technologies using thermoelectric and piezoelectric inkjet. Finally, LOGISIETE presented a draft of the main lines for market research considering the opportunities relate to digitally printed melamine boards.

Customize!

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]

The new catalogue of PRINTODECO designs is ready. This new edition includes personalization tools. It makes possible matching industrial products with final customer needs and likes. Moreover, it also makes possible to define exclusive designs and give protagonism to the customer who can define the product directly.

By the moment, the customization tools are offered throughout a catalogue. This means that the customer already has the customization possibilities, but using special software and knowledge is needed. Within the next month’s PRINTODECO will offer that support online, by means of a tool that allows direct customization by the final customer.

The personalization possibilities are based on three different tools to be explained in detail within the next weeks. The first one makes possible to adjust existing patterns by changing Hue, Saturation and Brightness. The second allows to combine a catalogue of textures with any colour to produce new surface designs. The third one blends a catalogue prefab images with images uploaded by the final customer.

At Cidade da Cultura

During 2017, the exhibition From tree to chair takes place in Santiago de Compostela, at Cidade da Cultura. The action lasts between 7ABR and 5NOV. It shows the importance of the natural resources at different levels: from societal and cultural to environmental and economical. The exhibition also shows the power of design to boost that potential.

An academicals meeting took place within this exhibition between 7JUN and 9JUN. Within this event, important Companies and Designers meet in Santiago de Compostela. SEISTAG, one of the partners of PRINTODECO Project, was invited to that meeting.

The intervention of SEISTAG was hold under the title From craftsmanship to industry. It described the importance of artisanship for industrial development, and also the importance of industrial mentality to guide all the creative efforts. Those ideas are among the main objectives of PRINTODECO Project: allowing individual creative activity to interact with industrial processes and products.

Industrial Innovation in Transition

Under the name Industrial Innovation in Transition, IIT is a large research regarding new Innovation schemas in Europe. The first public presentation of the results of that research program took place on 1st June 2017, at the CDTI headquarters in Madrid. CDTI is the Center for Industrial and Technology Development. It is the most relevant Spanish institution in the field of industrial research and innovation.

PRINTODECO partners were invited to share their experience during that presentation of IIT results. SEISTAG was present to explain how the partners get to know one another, and how they move from first contact to strategic partnership. The experience of TORCULO, LOSAN, SEISTAG and LOGISIETE was shown as a example of the results of the Ecosystem of Innovation that has been growing in the North West of Spain during the last years.

The presentation was supported by ZABALA, a leading European Consoulting on Research, Development and Innovation. Important names of that field of activity such as Johan Stierna, from DG Research European Commission; Totti Konnola. General Manager of Insight Foresight Institute; and Francisco Marín, General Manager of CDTI.

Vietnam

Members of SEISTAG involved on PRINTODECO Project visited Vietnam during the first week of March 2017. Many furniture producers are currently moving to this country due to its low salaries. Even the Chinese industry considers Vietnam as an opportunity for industrial development and a place where to invest. Therefore, the local industry grows and new products are more interesting from day to day.

Vietnam is a great market, but it is also young. Therefore, there are many difficulties for new products market introduction. Expedition costs are still high and the local market is very price sensitive. In addition to this, upgrading the technical level of the processes is still a challenge for many existing industries.

Because of the trip, a business opportunity has been recognised around wood surfaces. Matching the grain to fit the furniture components is a value for customers. They face losses due to bad matching. Therefore, they will appreciate a digitally printed board that ensures gain matching at the final furniture.

at Cocina Gráfica

On 28 April took place in Vigo, the sixth edition of the conference cocina gráfica. This is a meeting for profesionals of the graphic sector in Galicia. The program started at 9:00 and last until 20:30 in the evening.

During the sesión, more than twenty relevant influencers on the graphic activity were present. From 3D printing to marketing experts and creatives. All the relevant actors at design and priting were there. The action had the suport of international Companies such as Roland DG.

The coordinator of PRINTODECO Project was among the protagonist of the day. He explained the efforts of the Company to be ahead at graphic develoments following an Open Innovation schema. This way of doing makes posible to boost creativity and join forces in order to reach higher objectives as it is the digital printing applied to melamine board.
